Nasty Marketing

Isn’t the whole point of digital marketing, that it takes the side of the consumer and gives people something valuable? Aren’t we stepping forward into a brave new world of empowered consumers and brands who know how to bring joy into people’s lives. A shame them that something like this is out there. Negative, culturally idiotic, arrogant. Burger King have been smart with the web before, but not this time I fear.

Oh my! I cringed so much watching this. The awful background music and sanctimonious drivel was too much.

not every consumer has the time or the energy to feel or be empowered- sometimes its nice to be entertained
as for this ad - i’d rather watch this 50 times then a single DFS advert

And this just in - Burger King are now encouraging Facebook users to remove their friends in return for free burgers (http://www.brandrepublic.com/BrandRepublicNews/News/872144/Burger-King-bribes-people-ditch-Facebook-friends/?DCMP=EMC-DailyNewsBulletin). Possibly clever as a stunt but again, not particularly nice or consumer friendly. For every user that uses the Facebook app and enjoys their free Whopper™ their are ten more who have just experienced a negative brand experience.
